“There is a unity of purpose among the two nations. We have got our head of terrorist operations coming to Delhi Monday,” Stagg told reporters here.

The terror attack on Mumbai, the financial capital of the country and home to Indian film industry, Bollywood, has brought to fore the global reach of terrorism with six foreigners, including an Australian, Gilbert Taylor, 49, killed and several others injured.

Stagg confirmed that seven British citizens were injured in the shootouts and grenade explosions that continued throughout Wednesday night. However, he said that the number of British citizens currently held hostage was not clear.

“Seven British citizens have been injured and we are still searching for others,” he said.

The British envoy said they had issued a travel advisory. “They (British citizens) should avoid going out for the time being. Others visiting the city should only go if they have some important reason to do so,” he said.
