“Dasmunsi was shifted to the Indraprastha Apollo hospital following his family’s request,” AIIMS medical superintendent D.K. Sharma told IANS.

Sharma said: “He was stable and his cardiac status was being managed. Also, a team of specialists, including neurologists, was keeping a watch over him for the past week”.

Dasmunsi, 63, who suffered a second heart attack in three months, continues to be in a critical condition. He had not gained “full consciousness”.

A statement from the Apollo hospital said the minister has been “shifted to the hospital from AIIMS. He is very critical and continues to be on life support”.

He was rushed to AIIMS last Monday after he complained of breathlessness due to lung congestion caused by heart failure. He was put on a ventilator.

The senior Congress leader has a 10-year history of diabetes.

Dasmunsi, also head of the West Bengal Congress Committee, was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) in AIIMS.

He had earlier suffered a heart attack Jul 8. At the time, “Dasmunsi had undergone an angioplasty and stenting of two coronary arteries,” Sharma said.
