Divij powers to final, Isha bows out at Lagos

Lagos : India’s Divij Sharan continued his impressive run in the $15,000 ITF as he routed third seed Andreas Haider Maurer 7-6 (7), 6-3 to enter the final.

Indian women though had a dismal outing, with Isha Lakhani failing to go past her semi-final round.

Divij, who shocked top-seed Russian Pavel Chekov in the second round en route to the final, now faces fourth-seeded Slovak Kamil Capkovic, who upset second-seed Boy Westerhof of the Netherlands 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.

However, India’s last challenge in women’ singles came to an end when Isha went down fighting 6-7 (4), 4-6 against second-seeded Slovakian Zuzana Kucova in the semi-final.

Isha faced defeat in the doubles as well when she and Rusmi Chakravarthi, seeded fourth, were upset by unseeded Russian pair Valeria Savinykh and Elena Chalova , 7-6 (6), 3-6 (7-10).
