Jharkhand asks Maharashtra for the body of violence victim

Ranchi : Jharkhand has approached the Maharashtra government to secure the body of a person reportedly killed in violence against North Indians Oct 19, an official said Sunday.

According to official sources, Jharkhand Chief Secretary A.K. Basu has requested his Mahrashtra counterpart to send the body of Ramu Das to Ranchi. Basu spoke to Maharashtra chief secretary on Chief Minister Shibu Soren’s instruction.

A women of Khuti district claims that her husband Ramu Das was thrown from a running train at Kalyan Oct 19 by the supporters of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). The news has since then sparked resentment among the people of the district. The residents of the district demanded the body of Ramu Das and action against MNS chief Raj Thackeray.

“The district administration of Khuti has spoken to railway authorities in Mumbai. The wife of Ramu Das will be sent to Mumbai for identification so that the process of bringing back the body could be initiated,” a senior government official told IANS.
