Around 11 am Atif’s brother Raghib in the company of some leaders of religious organizations approached Jamia Nagar Police Station and met SHO Iqbal Khan. They submitted an application for the body.

The SHO told them that the autopsy of the body is yet to be conducted. He told them that they would be informed about the next step. He also told them that the autopsy may be conducted on Sunday.

TwoCircles.net tried to talk Raghib but he was so shocked that he was unable to talk on the issue. Asked about the education of Atif, Raghib pointed towards a person in the group to contact. He was in no mood to talk.

While it is said that Atif was doing MA in Human Resource Development from Jamia Millia Islamia, the university has issued a statement denying the media report that Jamia students were involved in the encounter.

“The disinformation campaign in the media – both electronic and print – goes on without checking with the University authorities. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mushirul Hasan, wishes to make it clear that the Jamia students are not involved in the unfortunate encounter yesterday. The incident occurred not on our Campus but in one of the neighbouring localities.”

The Vice-Chancellor said the Campus was calm and peaceful.

It is likely that Raghib may address a press conference tomorrow after the recovery of the body.

To avoid media attention, they are planning to perform the last rites silently in the presence of close friends and family members.

When TCN asked SHO Iqbal Khan about the issue, he denied to talk and politely asked all media persons to vacate the police station premises.

There is not much information available about the family of Sajid, another suspected terrorist killed in the encounter yesterday.
