Ranchi : Kicking off the party’s election campaign, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and the party’s prime ministerial candidate L.K. Advani Tuesday blamed the Congress-led central government for “compromising the security of the country”.
“The central government is making a mockery of the security of the country just for vote bank politics,” Advani said while addressing a rally in Jharkhand’s second capital Dumka. “It was Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi who tipped off the government about the terrorist hideouts in New Delhi,” Advani said at a party rally.
The BJP will organize more than 100 rallies in the coming days in different parts of the country. Dumka is the place where Advani was kept after his arrest in 1990 while he was on his Ayodhya Rath Yatra. After 18 years, Advani has chosen the same place to kick off the party’s election campaign.
The BJP leader also took a dig at the “blessings” central Home Minister Shivraj Patil received of “Madam” (Congress president Sonia Gandi). Patil has been the target of flak in the wake of a spate of terror attacks in the country.
Advani came down heavily on the Manmohan Singh government for what he termed the failure to curb rising prices of essential commodities.
