New Delhi: Today is the sixth day and apparently situation seems to have returned to normal in the Jamia Nagar area which was shaken on Friday (Sep. 19) when a bloody encounter took place in the Batla House locality.
Delhi police inspector Prem Chand Sharma was killed in the encounter which ended at the killing of two alleged terrorist suspects Atif Ameen (24) and Sajid (17). The police said they were mastermind behind the September 13 Delhi serial bombings in which 24 people were killed.
Though a sense of uncertainty and fear is found in minds of people, at least on the road the preparation for Eid is in full swing. As the video shows, women, girls and children are pouring out onto the road for shopping.
Cloth shops are crowded so are dry fruit vendors and thelas with crockery items. Women of all age can be seen on the roads and in shops. As they were looking in festive mood, it was not proper to remind of the incident which has brought the locality to the world attention.
Today is the first day after the encounter when the area has few people in khaki dress. Maybe, this has helped people to come out. Anyway, they want to leave the bloody memory behind and move on.
