Jaipur: As part of its drive for political mobilization of the Muslim Community, the All India Milli Council organized a huge road show here over the weekend and appealed to voters to cast their ballots in favour of Congress to which it has extended its “unconditional support” for Lok Sabha elections.
The All India Milli Council has also launched a series of “Caravan-e-Siyasi Bhagidari” (Caravan for political participation) in the state. The road show will tour three Muslim-dominated assembly segments of Jaipur Lok Sabha seat. It will encourage the voters to come out in large numbers and exercise franchise in favour of Congress.
The All India Milli Council has also established an organization “People’s Movement of India” to exert pressure in political parties to resolve the difficulties confronting the underprivileged sections and promote the interactions of Muslims with other backward social segments on common issues.
The state general secretary of All India Milli Council Abdul Qayyum Akhtar said that the similar road show would be organized shortly in the Shekhawati, Mawari and Hadauti regions of the desert state to mobilize Muslim voters in support of the Congress.
“We have no option other than Congress to take on communal and divisive of Bhartiya Janata Party”, added he.
Other Muslim groups in State have expressed their reservations about the All India Milli Council’s strategy of extending absolute support to Congress. They have warned that this would weaken the Muslim Community’s bargaining position on issues such as youths being arrested in the fabricated cases of terrorism and discrimination in social welfare schemes as well.
