Lucknow : Two women and three children were bludgeoned to death over a land dispute in an Uttar Pradesh village early Saturday morning, police said.
The incident took place in Gaura village of Mohanlalganj block near Lucknow.
“Kalai along with his aides barged inside the home of Sarvan and attacked his family members with a spade, killing Sarvan’s wife and three children on the spot. At the time of the attack, Sarvan was not at home,” Superintendent of Police (rural) S.N. Nigam told IANS.
He said sons of Sarvan and Santosh Kumari – Ramroop, 5, Sumiran, 3, and Ravi, 1 – were killed.
Kalai also killed his wife Madhuri when she tried to prevent him from attacking Sarvan’s family, Nigam said.
“Land dispute is suspected to be the reason behind the crime,” he said.
