Agra : The day temperature in Agra rose to a sizzling 44.6 degrees Celsius Wednesday, the weatherman said. The soaring temperature resulted in less number of tourists stepping out of their hotel rooms to visit the popular sites.
“The authorities have made no arrangements for shade or umbrellas for the tourists. Many of them choose to stay in airconditioned hotel rooms,” said tourist guide Hashmat.
The markets wore a deserted look. Even campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections in the state has been hit.
“Candidates were now moving around late in the evenings visiting villages and smaller towns. Even in the city people do not like to be disturbed in their homes in the afternoon,” said Nandan Shrotriy, a worker of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
