“DMRC trains will begin services at 4 a.m., two hours ahead of the usual time on all routes,” a DMRC spokesperson said.

The decision was taken following a suggestion from the Election Commission that the measure would help poll duty officers reach their duty stations in time, the official added.

The services will begin early but end at the usual 11 p.m. closing time.

The frequency of the trains will be 15 minutes at all stations for the first two hours after which the normal five to 10 minute frequency will be followed.

The DMRC had also started services early for the assembly elections held in November last year.
