“Acting on a tip-off from officials of the intelligence department, we today (Saturday) raided a hideout in the Chowk Phuwara locality in Saharanpur and nabbed six Bangladeshis, who are in the age-group of 22-25 years,” police inspector Jitendra Singh told IANS over phone.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused would secretly bring Bangladeshi nationals to India by promising them jobs and charging money from them.

“We are carrying out investigations to ascertain whether those arrested have any criminal background or links with clandestine outfits,” Singh added.

According to police, the six have admitted that they used to enter India illegally through the West Bengal border.

Saharanpur is about 400 km from Lucknow.
