The foundation of the Bawana gas power plant was laid by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last year in March and Dikhsit had said the project would be commissioned well in time before the start of the Commonwealth Games in October 2010.

However, the work on this project is behind the schedule and the chief minister requested Deshmukh to intervene for its timely completion.

The minister assured her that all possible help would be provided by his ministry and directed (Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd) BHEL officials to work out all problems related to the power plant, an official statement said.

Deshmukh also directed BHEL to ensure proper arrangements for equipments, manpower and other material for the power plant.

He called for daily monitoring of the project to solve problems faced by concerned agencies.
