Colombo : The Sri Lankan military Wednesday rejected a video clip on British television showing soldiers reportedly committing atrocities against suspected Tamil rebels.
“The video shown has been doctored. There is no truth in the video footage seen,” military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said.
The video showed a man in military clothing shooting naked, bound and blindfolded men in the back of the head.
The footage has been picked up by several websites and other TV stations as well.
Earlier, the Sri Lankan High Commission in Britain also denied the allegations in the video.
Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) were defeated by the military after its leadership was killed May 18.
