Samajwadi coming closer to us, says Left

By IANS,

New Delhi: For the first time after their bitter parting of ways before the Lok Sabha election, the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) said Wednesday that the Samajwadi Party was coming closer to the Left.

“Samajwadi Party is coming very closer to us,” said CPI-M leader Basudeb Acharia after MPs from the Left and Samajwadi Party held a joint protest in parliament complex against the rising prices of essential commodities.

It was the first such show since the Left withdrew support to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s government last year over the India-US nuclear deal. The Samajwadi Party then came to the rescue of the Congress-led government.

The CPI-M leader said both the Samajwadi Party and CPI-M would continue “floor coordination” in parliament because the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he claimed, was an “ineffective” opposition.
