Nizamabad: On Minority Rights Day –18 December – a delegation of Muslim Empowerment Movement (MEM) headed by Mr. Abdul Ghani met District Collector of Nizamabad in Andhra Pradesh and handed over a memorandum demanding immediate implementation of Ranganath Mishra Commission Report.
The Muslim group has accused the central government of cheating Muslims and not taking their matters seriously as it tabled Mishra report in the Parliament after two years waiting but without Action Taken Report.
The memorandum addressing to Prime Minister, Sonia Gandhi, Union Law Minister, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Union Minister for Minority Affairs, drew attention towards the evocation of 1950-1951 Presidential order which deprives Dalits belonging to Christian, Parsi and Muslim communities from the constitutional facilities being availed by Scheduled Castes of Hindu, Sikh and Buddhist communities, which is a bad example of discrimination in this democratic country.
They demanded that Muslim, Christian and Parsi Dalits must be given the whole benefits accorded to SCs as Mishra Commission has recommended and also government should file a reply in Supreme Court on the pending case of the matter referring to additional terms of reference to the NCRLM.
