Lakana, Pakistan : President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday said the government was waging a war against all those who were trying to weaken the country.“We will wage Jehad against those who murdered Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, those who burnt Karachi and were killing our soldiers,” he said at a gathering after inaugurating a string of developmental projects.
He said memorials will be constructed for the valiant jawans of law enforcement agencies, whereever they were martyred, so that their courageous stance against the terrorists is marked in the annals of history.
The president said he has high hopes and dreams about a modern progressive Pakistan and recalled that late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had said that the nation would prove its mettle and “we have proved it to some extent.”
“The people of Pakistan will continue to carry forward the mission of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto through reconciliation and stronger democracy,” he added.
The President said all these projects will complete in an year’s time and asked the party workers and leaders to monitor these, while utilising modern means.
He urged the government to adopt modern technology to ensure transparency and efficiency in all government projects and utilise satellite imaging, internet and modern means to evaluate, monitor and oversee the projects.
The President said that a mechanism for payment of compensation of land coming under various projects needs to be worked out to ensure transparency.
