Swine Flu death toll in India raises to 919

New Delhi : With four more persons succumbed to Swine Flu in India, the countrywide toll raised to 919, it was reported on Thursday.

The deaths were reported from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Delhi.

Officials said reports of 17 earlier deaths due to the disease have been received from the health authorities of Gujarat (11), Delhi (2), Rajasthan (2) and Maharashtra (2).

Meanwhile, 207 fresh cases were reported nationwide, with Delhi topping the list.

Out of the 207 fresh reported cases, the national capital accounted for a whopping 100 cases, followed by Maharashtra (23) and Gujarat (20), the health ministry said.

The total number of those afflicted by the disease has, so far, reached 25,779.

Out of the 207 cases reported during the day, two have a history of foreign travel and the rest are indigenous cases.

Meanwhile, on 29th December 2009, some 14,359 passengers have been screened at 9 Airports.

The total number of passengers screened untill December 31 is 10,141,258.

Additionally, samples from some 111,674 persons have been tested for Influenza in government and private laboratories across the country out of which some 23.08 per cent (about 25,779 cases) were found positive.
