Lucknow ” Legislators threw paper missiles, hurled mikes and shouted slogans while Governor T.V. Rajeswar looked on helplessly and his marshalls tried to fend the blows Tuesday in the Uttar Pradesh assembly.
Legislators of the opposition Samajwadi Party were protesting the murder of a public works department (PWD) engineer last month.
The budget session of the assembly, which started Tuesday morning, had to be adjourned as the Samajwadi Party legislators held black cloth and threw files over the murder of the engineer in Auraiya district.
The engineer was allegedly murdered at the behest of ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) legislator Shekhar Tiwari when the former reportedly refused to cough up money for Chief Minister Mayawati’s birthday celebrations on Jan 15.
