Inaugurating the Hindi translation of the book women’s rights activist Dr Urvashi Butalia said the book exposed the domestic violence going on at a big scale in upper middle and educated classes. Though late the book has rightly been published in Hindi, she averred.

Speaking on the occasion author Flavia Agnes said woman in every role – as daughter, sister, wife and mother – is facing violence and torture, sometimes physically and sometimes emotionally.

Journalist and Hindi translator of the autobiography Nasiruddin Haidar Khan said that given the present hectic life of prominent women’s rights lawyer and social activist Agnes it is difficult for one to imagine that such a sad story could have ever been part of her life. The book does not only say about the sad period the author suffered through but also shows the struggle she did to come out of it, Khan said.
