Air Force spokesman, Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara, told IANS that “an LTTE suicide bomber has blew himself up opposite the Colombo Air Force camp at Slave Island, killing two people and wounding 31”.

The explosion occurred an hour after President Mahinda Rajapaksa announced that government troops had captured the Tamil Tiger rebels’ de facto political capital of Kilinochchi, dealing a major blow to the rebels after a decade of fighting.
