Cairo : The Arab League on Saturday “strongly” condemned the wide-scale ground incursion to the Gaza Strip, lashing at the same time at the international community’s “slackening” to bear its responsibility in curbing the Israeli aggression.
“Israel, through conducting the incursion, do not want a ceasefire, as it is carrying on with its ‘heinous’ crime against the besieged Palestinian people,” Assistant Secretary General for Palestine and Arab Occupied Territories Affairs Ambassador Mohammad Subeeh told KUNA.
He noted that the Arab ministerial delegation heading to New York tomorrow to meet with UNSC officials will find it more difficult to deliver the message, adding that the Arab group had a major role in making more contacts with all UN agencies in order to promote a swift action to be taken to halt the aggression.
Subeeh held the UN Security Council, the United States and the Mideast Quartet responsibility of the continuation of the attacks against unarmed Gazans, saying that the league is currently making unremitting contacts to urge the UNSC to hold a session.
Secretary General Amr Moussa had earlier contacted UN Secretary General Ban ki-Moon, where they discussed latest developments of the situation in Gaza.
