Lucknow : An illegal arms manufacturing factory was busted in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh Monday and almost two dozen country-made pistols seized, the police said.
“Acting on a tip-off, we today (Monday) evening raided a hideout in Sarurpur locality in Meerut and arrested three people engaged in making illegal firearms,” Meerut district police chief Raghuveer Lal told IANS.
The three, identified as Yameen, Naseen and Aas Mohammad, are being interrogated, he added.
As many as 22 pistols and a rifle were recovered from the hideout.
Preliminary investigations showed that the three made illegal fire-arms and supplied these to customers in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, Lal added.
Meerut is about 400 km from Lucknow.
