Gaza death toll climbs to 779

Gaza : The number of Palestinians killed in the Israeli air raid on Gaza Strip, concluding its second week Friday, has climbed to 779.

Director of the Emergency Department, Muawiya Hassanain, was reported as saying that the number rose after 50 bodies were found under the rubble in Atatra and Jihr El-Deik districts during the three-hour truce period yesterday.

Meanwhile, Palestinian medical sources reported that 21 Palestinians were killed in the Israeli air raids late last night and early this morning.

The sources said that the air raid targeting a house in Jabaliya refugee camp killed Fatma Saad, 42, Sumaya Saad, 25, and Atta Saad, 12.

In the central Gaza town of Zuwayda, three Palestinians were killed and seven others were wounded when Israeli navy boats fired at the area from sea. The victims were taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Hospital in Deir Al-Balah.

The same hospital reported receiving the bodies of nine dead Palestinians and 40 wounded in the Israeli incursion on Qarara, central Gaza.

Furthermore, Palestinian ambulances retrieved the bodies of six elderly men and women killed by the Israeli forces during the incursion on Qarara.

Also, Palestinian sources said Albera Vladimir Al-Jaru, a 36-year-old Ukrainian national, was killed with her one-year-old son early this morning when a mortar shell hit their house in Shujaiya, eastern Gaza City.

The sources said her Palestinian husband, Dr. Aouni Al-Jaru, was wounded, while their daughter Yasmin was in intensive care. Their son, Abdulrahman, suffered light wounds.

Overnight and early this morning, Israeli planes targeted the house of Abu Obaida Al-Jarrah, the deputy commander of the Hamas police. The house was located in Sheikh Al-Radhwan district.

The planes also hit the house of a security commander in Rafah and the home of a high-level security official in Al-Qassam Brigades.

Zaitoun police station, southern Gaza City, was destroyed in an air raid, along with Rabat Mosque and the Islamic Jihad Bureau in Khan Younes.
