New Delhi : The Supreme Court Friday banned the Tamil Nadu government from granting permission for the conduct of the popular Jallikattu bull fight in the state till Feb 13.
A bench of Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan and Justice P. Sathasivam suspended the conduct of the sport on a plea by the Animal Welfare Board, which said that 21 people have died and over 1,600 people have been injured in this sport in the month of January alone.
The bench will hear the matter again on Feb 13.
