Kochi: Keralites have also been identified among the victims of the boat capsize off Doha coast. The family of Moidunny Kutty (52), resident of Malappuram, has been informed of his demise.
The boat ‘Damas Victory’ capsized off the coast of Doha in Qatar on Tuesday (June 30). There were 19 Indians among the 30 people on board at the time of sinking. The vessel has been taken out and three more bodies recovered by the rescue workers who are trying to remove more bodies.
MA Moidunny Kutty, the deceased, was a resident of Changaramkulam in Malappuram district. He was an employee of the HBK Power Cleaning, the company which had hired the vessel ‘Damas Victory’. He had been in Kerala and returned to his workplace only three months ago. He is survived by his wife, three children and a son-in-law.
However, the situation of Raghunathan, resident of Kollam in southern Kerala, is yet to be known. His family was informed that he had been missing. He has been working in an oil company for 23 years. The death of Josemon, resident of Kochi, was confirmed earlier.
Many, including Indians, have been rescued from the ship. Bodies are still being recovered, so the exact number of people dead is not yet clear.
