Suleman was shot dead around 1 p.m. by some unidentified gunmen near Mangala crossing on the Paradip-Kendrapara highway, 17 km from Kendrapara town.

“He was a notorious criminal, wanted in a dozen criminal cases. He has been killed by some of his own gang members. The killing could have been due to the internal differences in the gang,” said Narsundar Mishra, the superintendent of police of Kendrapara.

Police reached the spot of the murder and sent Suleman’s bullet-riddled body for post-mortem. Two people, including the driver, were arrested and were being interrogated.

Apprehending retaliation by Suleman’s gang members after his murder, the police have beefed up security in Kendrapara district.
