Chennai : Home Minister and senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram Saturday said the party will emerge stronger in the 2011 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu as well as the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking to reporters at the party headquarters here, he said: “We need and support coalition parties but at the same, make our party strong. The Congress will emerge as a strong party in the 2011 Tamil Nadu assembly and the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.”
However, he declined to comment on the party’s demand for ministerial berth in the DMK-led state government.
Chidambaram said there would be no watering down of the provisions of Women’s Reservation Bill. He also said the government follows “zero tolerance” towards terrorism.
