Surat police seek narco analysis of rape accused

Surat : Police in Surat are awaiting clearance from a fast track court here for narco analysis of the three accused of raping a 17-year-old girl here June 12.

The test is expected to yield information on similar crimes the three are suspected to have committed during the past one year, a police official said Saturday.

“We may take the three accused – Shahid Saiyed, Tariq Saiyed and Abubakar Memon – for narco analysis at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Gandhinagar tomorrow (Sunday) to gather more information on similar crime committed by the accused before the June 12 incident. We have requested the fast track court to allow us to go for narco analysis of the accused and the order of the court is awaited by tomorrow (Sunday) morning,” a senior official of the Surat crime branch said.

According to him, the police investigation in the June 12 gang rape revealed some more information on the earlier rapes the three committed as suggested in the videos and the MMS clips found in their mobile phone handsets.

“The latest video clipping found in the mobile phone of one of the accused shows a Nepali girl being gang raped. It is being examined at the FSL in Surat city,” the official said.

The evidence collected from the car in which the girl was raped – finger prints and body fluids – is being examined at the FSL in Surat but the narco test may still become a necessity as the case is not as simple as it may seem, the official added.
