Sleuths of Delhi Police’s special cell arrested Anil Dhawan and Pritpal Singh Friday and recovered 54 fake Indian passports, blank visa stickers, 22 fake stamps of Indian immigration authorities, embassies of Schengen countries, nationalised banks, a computer and its peripherals used in making fake documents from them, a police official said.

“Dhawan was arrested from his office at West Patel Nagar for facilitating Indian passports to Afghan nationals on forged documents,” the officer said.

When interrogated, Dhawan told the police that he has been running a fake passport racket since 2002. He was arrested in 2004 by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) along with 20 other associates. He was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in 2008 again in a fake passport case.

“The accused used to charge Rs.200,000 to Rs.500,000 from his clients for this. We are trying to nab the other members of the racket,” the officer said.
