The presidential office Saturday had announced that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was to host his Afghan and Pakistani counterparts, Hamid Karzai and Asif Ali Zardari respectively, on Tuesday in Tehran.

An informed official source told ISNA that Zardari has asked for the postponement of the meeting because he was busy with the latest tensions in his country.

The trilateral summit is still to be held in the near future, the unnamed source added.

The summit was considered a sign of Iranian willingness to cooperate with the West, especially the US, in finding ways to resolve tensions in Afghanistan and Pakistan caused by the conflicts there with the Islamist Taliban.
