Washington : The US looks forward to continuing to work with the new Indian government after the elections, but as of now Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is not planning any visit to India.
“We look forward to continuing to work with the government,” State Department spokesman Ian Kelly told reporters Monday referring to President Barack Obama’s statement Saturday after the ruling Congress-led coalition scored a victory in the parliamentary elections.
“President Obama looks forward to continuing to work with the Indian government to enhance the warm partnership between our two countries,” White House spokesman Robert Gibbs had said Saturday, congratulating India on its historic national elections.
“I think that this was in terms of overall numbers, this was the largest free and fair election in history,” Kelly said. “And we congratulate the people of India for conducting these elections.”
Asked if Clinton was planning any visit to India, Kelly said: “Not that I’m aware of.”
