The national team’s players underwent strenuous training sessions in Bhurban for five days and will now assemble in Lahore Tuesday for a best-of-three series of Twenty20 practice matches.

“The players have shown tremendous improvement as far as their mental and physical fitness is concerned,” Intikhab told IANS from Bhurban Monday. “We had a series of comprehensive training sessions to help players become sharper, faster and stronger ahead of the World Twenty20 Championships.”

Pakistan has a hectic training programme for the June 5-21 World Twenty20 Championships. Following the conditioning camp in Bhurban that was supervised by Pakistan’s fitness trainer David Dwyer, the cricketers will play three practice matches from May 20-22 at the Gaddafi Stadium under floodlights.

They will get a two-day rest after which, the players will compete in the National Twenty20 Cup starting in Lahore from May 25. The team will then leave for England May 30 just a day before its first practice match against South Africa June 1.

Pakistan will play old rivals India in the second and last warm-up game at the Oval June 3.
