The No.1 student to score over all others from across India is Ayesha Haroon Rashid Tamboli who obtained 99.99% in the Maharashtra Board exams. She will awarded the gold medal at the hands of a prominent dignitary at AFMI’s XVIII International Convention and Gala Award Ceremony to be held January 2-3, 2009 at Rabindranath Tagore Hall, Tagore Marg, Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

The other achievers in the SSC (Grade 10) category are 2. M. Sumaiya Thasneem (98.20%),Tamil Nadu 3. Sarwar Hasib (97.14%), Orissa, 4. Hasnain Rangwala (96.40%), Madhya Pradesh, 5. Saleha Iqbal Hussain (96.40%), Rajasthan.

The top five students in the HSC (Grade 12) category are: 1. M.Syed Kaleel Awn (98.58%), Tamil Nadu 2. Almas Nazim Sayed (98.50%), Maharashtra 3. Sana Firdouse (97.50%), Andhra Pradesh 4. Nazrin P.S. (96.50%), Kerala, 5. C.M. Akbar Ali (96%), Karnataka.

Apart from the medals each student will receive a scholarship of Rs.5,000 and in the case of need would be considered for further scholarships.

Top three scorers from each state will get Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals.

The spectacular performance of these students reveals that there is a need to encourage and inspire the best and the brightest students of the community. AFMI has been doing just that since the inception of its awards program nineteen years ago. When it first sought applications there were very few students who would cross the 80 percent mark. But nineteen years later many students are not guaranteed a medal even if they have scored more than 90 percent due to tough competition from their colleagues.

AFMI appeals to all to support its educational cause and be present at its annual convention to honor these bright students. More details about the convention can be obtained by contacting AFMI at [email protected].
