In an interview to Star News’ weekly programme “Jo Kahunga, Sach Kahunga”, Raj Babbar said that Salman came to campaign for him due to their “deep familial ties”.

He said the visit of Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi to the constituency reinforced people’s faith in the promises made by him.

By-polls to Firozabad seat were held Nov 7.

Babbar said the people of Firozabad have given a shock to Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and he was only a symbol of their sentiments.

Taking a dig at Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh, Babbar said that only a healthy man can think in a healthy way.

He complimented Mulayam Singh’s son Akhilesh Yadav for showing courage in taking up the political challenge after Samajwadi Party’s defeat, adding the Yadavs were a community with self-pride, who could not be driven and did not accept anyone as their leader.

Babbar said people of Uttar Pradesh had got fed up of politics of caste, and hoped that the next government in the state will be that of the Congress.
