“Robbers broke the locks of the shutter and gained entry through the passage stairs. Then they made holes in the glass doors, using a drilling machine, to open their latches. It seems to be a handiwork of some high-tech gang active in this region for the last few months,” said a police official.

According to police, the burglars looted electronic goods from the shops, situated on the first floor of a showroom in Sector 20 market here, in the wee hours of Wednesday.

“A rickshaw-puller saw three to four men, around 6 a.m., loading goods into a car. We are also taking his help in ascertaining the identity of the accused,” the official said.

Rajesh Sharma, one of the shop-owners, said: “They took away 20 laptops and 25 LCD screens from the two shops. Our combined loss is around Rs.30 lakh.”
