Bhubaneswar: The Orissa government has ordered a police Crime Branch probe into the attack on former MP Sudam Marandi that killed three security personnel though the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader escaped unhurt.
The three security men accompanying JMM Orissa unit president Sudam Marandi were killed when he was attacked Tuesday by suspected Maoist rebels near Bandam village, some 35 km from the district headquarters of Baripada.
The JMM Wednesday observed a 24-hour shutdown to protest the attack. Shops were closed and vehicles went off the road in Orissa’s Mayurbhanj district.
The three slain security personnel were cremated with full state honours at their respective villages.
