According to an official statement, the policy will permit hi-tech IT and enabled services to boost revenues of the national capital.

It aims to make Delhi a global hub for clean, high technology industries, encourage eco-friendly knowledge based industries and generate high amount of revenue without seeking much electricity, manpower, land and water.

The policy makes it clear that even the existing industries of the capital need to be upgraded to make them environment friendly and create employment for skilled operators.

This is for the first time after 1982 that an industrial policy is being framed for Delhi.

In a bid to remove multiplicity of agencies, the policy stipulates that the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corp (DSIIDC) will own and manage all the existing and new industrial assets of Delhi.
