New Delhi: The Urdu translation of the famous book, Good Muslim, Bad Muslim: America, the Cold War, and the Roots of Terror written by Prof. Mahmood Mamdani was released by renowned poet and newly appointed Rajya Sabha Member Jawed Akhtar on Thursday here at Constitution Club.
The book argues that political Islam emerged as the result of a modern encounter with Western power, and that the terrorist movement at the center of Islamist politics is an even more recent phenomenon, one that followed America’s embrace of proxy war after its defeat in Vietnam.
“It is a provocative and important book that will profoundly change our understanding both of Islamist politics and the way America is perceived in the world today,” claims the author on the title page.
The Urdu version of the book (translated by Sohail Hashami and Qamar Azad Hashmi) can be purchased from SAHMAT’s office at 29, Ferozeshah Road, near Mandi House, New Delhi-110001 by paying 150 rupees.
