Abu Dhabi : International security has become an urgency and countries should collaborate with Interpol by providing data to keep danger at bay and help track down terror perpetrators, a top police official has said.
The police in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are known for meeting international standards and 1,000 officers have been sent to international universities to acquire expertise, Col. Ali Salem Al Khayal, director of the Interpol Office at the ministry of interior, said Tuesday.
Al Khayal spoke about the cooperation between Interpol and Abu Dhabi police, which led to the tracking down of a number of criminals.
Abu Dhabi police was, at present, ranked sixth worldwide for its credibility, Fahim Al Mansouri, director of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Desk at Interpol, said.
Interpol or the International Criminal Police Organisation was established in 1923 and has 188 countries as its members. Its headquarters is in Lyon, France.
