New Delhi: Expressing its solidarity with Jamia Nagar residents who are on an indefinite hunger strike since April 14th to press the demand for judicial probe into Batla House encounter, Campus Front of India (CFI) has also demanded judicial inquiry into the September 19, 2008 encounter and all other fake encounters.
“CFI is committed to take the fake encounter issue in general and Batla House encounter issue in particular. We strongly condemn the human rights violation by police and paramilitary forces in the name of curbing extremism. Security of our country is serious issue to all citizens of the country but rule of law can be survived only when human rights are preserved. Draconian laws are implemented only to be used as weapons by the police against the innocent civilians. Muslim youths are arrested in the fake terrorism cases and are denied legal defense. Even after sixty two years of independence the government has failed to provide social justice, security and equality to the minorities, dalits and tribals” said Md Anisujjaman, general secretary of CFI after meeting with Amantullah Khan, the Jamia Nagar leader who is leading the hunger strike. Notably, around 20 people are sitting on the hunger strike at Batla House Chowk under Khan’s leadership.
The strike is the latest in the series of fresh intensified protests following the disclosure of the revealing autopsy report of the two Azamgarh youths killed in the shootout on 19th September 2008 at Batla House. The strike is organized under banner of ‘Batla House Encounter Insaf Committee’.
