Kolkata: Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) politburo member Biman Bose Wednesday ruled out any rethink of the party on its political equations with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying the saffron outfit would never shed its communal agenda.
“The BJP can never leave its communal agenda. So on our part there is no need of a rethink on political equations with the BJP,” Bose, also chairman of West Bengal’s ruling Left Front, said replying to a query from a mediaperson here.
“Yesterday (Tuesday) when the cut motion was brought in by Gurudas Dasgupta, the BJP voted in favour of the cut motion. So what can we do?” Bose, also the CPI-M state secretary, said at the media meet here. He was asked whether the Marxists were re-evaluating their position vis-vis the BJP with whom they voted together for the cut motions in the Lok Sabha.
Bose said his party did not have any information about links between the Congress and the Maoist ultras, but reiterated the CPI-M’s oft-repeated stand that the Trinamool Congress was hand-in-glove with the Leftwing extremists.
“The Trinamool Congress and Maoists are trying to create violence and unrest in the state. In parliament also questions have been raised regarding Trinamool’s credibility in the fight against Leftwing extremism,” he added.
“The state will go for elections to 81 municipalities and for the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) May 30 and they are trying to foment violence in the state,” Bose said while releasing the Left Front’s manifesto for the civic polls.
