The delegation comprised MP Maulana Asrarul Haq Qasmi, Shahi Imam Mufti Mokarram and editor of Milli Gazette Dr. Zafrul Islam Khan.

The delegation demanded that the government should take positive step towards restoration of minority character of Jamia Millia. They also said that the issue of 27% reservation for OBCs is raised because its minority character has been reduced. Therefore, the government should restore the minority status of Jamia.

They also drew minister’s attention towards various schemes and projects started at Jamia during the tenure of last HRD minister but are now stopped due to lack of funds.

Mr. Sibal assured the delegation that he and his UPA government are serious about solving the problems confronting Jamia and soon funds will be released through University Grants Commission (UGC) for the projects stopped at Jamia. He also said that the UPA government will create an environment in favor of restoration of Jamia’s minority character.
