Srinagar: Three persons including a 17 year girl were killed today as police opened fire on protesters in Pampore. Five more are reported dead when angry crowd burned a police station where stored ammunition exploded resulting in more deaths and injuries.
The day began with latest victim of more than a moth old protest- a young girl who succumbed to her injuries she sustained during firing at Khrew, Pampore.
The situation in saffron area of Pampore turned ugly when police open fires on the demonstrators. Protesters torched office-cum- residence of a tehsildar in Pampore. They set afire a police vehicle also.
The slain girl identified as Afroza had got a bullet injury in her head and she was reported dead when brought to the hospital. “She was standing outside her house when a bullet fired by the forces hit her on the head,” an eyewitness told Agence India Press.
Intense clashes have been reported from the area. Latest reports say that angry protesters torched a joinery mill and the building of education department in the area. Some more injured in the Khrew firing are reportedly fighting for life in several hospitals.
Meanwhile, reports reaches to Agence India Press that, Paramilitary forces have opened fire on protesters in Srinagar’s Galwanpora, Hyderpora, Gangbugh and Tengpora areas.
Latest reports say that scores of people defying curfew tried to come out of various localities of uptown Galwanpora and Hyderpora on the New Airport Road. Paramilitary forces in response burst tear gas canisters and fired dozens of live bullets.
Earlier, two youths were killed and scores of people in a Pampore incident today.
Angry protesters set ablaze police Station in Khrew, by which ammunition kept inside the building suddenly exploded in which scores of people got injured. Reports said that several houses nearby the building damaged too.
At least three people killed and twenty are reported to be injured in the resulting explosion.
Fresh protests clash in Panzgham, Chadoora. Police open fire on protesters, resulting 4 injured among which 2 are in critical condition. Wounded persons have been shifted to Srinagar Hospital. Meanwhile night protests rocked entire valley.
According to citizen journalist heavy protests rocks Safa Kadal in Old Srinagar and adjoining areas, police retaliates with tear gas shells. Meanwhile, latest reports from Kupwara say that hundreds of demonstrators assembled in the town center and raised pro-freedom slogans. Paramilitary and police forces resorted to tear gas shelling and aerial firing, upon which the demonstrators were dispersed.
