The TNTJ delegation submitted the memorandum of resolution passed at its recent grand Muslim reservation conference held in Chennai for demanding centre to implement Ranganath Misra report and give separate reservation for socially backward Muslim community.

Since DMK has close relationship and ally of the ruling Congress party at the centre, TNTJ has requested DMK, the ruling party in Tamil Nadu, to put pressure on Congress to fulfill its election manifesto of 2004 and 2009 elections wherein the party had promised quota for Muslims. Separate reservation for Muslims must be implemented at the earliest, as there is no legal issue concerning this matter, TNTJ delegation said. The Deputy CM has assured the delegation he will take this matter to the centre.

The Jamaat leaders also thanked Deputy CM Stalin for withdrawing a government job advertisement wherein Muslims were asked to apply for job within the limit of 3.5% official quota for the community in the state. The ad had said that beyond the 3.5% quota Muslims will not be allowed to apply in the general quota.

TNTJ had reacted at the disturbing ad and demanded correction. By accepting the demand of TNTJ, new announcement was made that Muslim candidates are allowed to apply for open quota besides the reservation. TNTJ leaders thanked Stalin for this.
