New Delhi: There is no evidence of any terrorist activity going on in Kerala, said Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Makkan. He was responding to the question by KP Dhanapalan, MP, in the Lok Sabha.
The minister said that the state police was investigating the incident related to the chopping of the professor’s hand. However, there was no request from the state government seeking a ban on the Popular Front of India.
The clarification of the central minister has come at a time when terrorist accusations and allegations are flooding in Kerala. The central agency NIA has taken up six cases in the state. Terrorist accusations got intensified by the attack on the professor accused in a blasphemy case in Ernakulam. The police arrested some people reportedly members of the Popular Front of India which led to widespread raids in the houses of the PFI members as well as the offices of the organization and other organisations connected to it. Petition has also been submitted in the state High Court seeking a ban on the PFI.
