Kozhikode: The statement of the Muslim League calling for a boycott of the Jamat e Islami and naming the Jamat along with extremist organizations is a politically motivated move, analysed the state shura of the Jamat e Islami. It opined that the statement was a vain effort to hide the League’s own fears.
The shura meeting opined that only those organizations which had always been with the Muslim League agreed to the baseless allegations made against the JIH. Other organizations and leaders would not agree to it. There is nothing new in the statement. It is sad that the Muslim League cannot see beyond immediate political gains. The ML is following a policy helping the CPI (M)’s Hindutva-appeasement plan. The CPI (M) has decided to take up the agenda of the upper caste fascists and to appease majority communalism as even the last Muslim presence (INL) in the LDF left it. But the League leadership which can’t see things should examine whose interests they are upholding.
The meeting said that the general public has experienced the non-communalism and vast humanitarianism of the Jamat. The League leadership must have had the commonsense to understand that no Keralite would believe if it is said that those who chopped the hand of the professor and those who gave him blood to keep his life are the same. Supporting people-friendly politics and encouraging popular development groupings were the declared policies of the Jamat. No provocation can dissuade the organisation from this policy, the resolution passed in the meeting stated.
The statement against the Jamat e Islami was made in the press conference following a meeting of Muslim organizations convened by the Muslim League at Kottakkal. Party general secretary PK Kunhalikkutty had told media persons that organizations like the Jamat e Islami would be isolated and there would not be any cooperation with them in future also.
The Muslim League convened the meeting against terrorism on August 1 at Kottakkal inviting several Muslim organizations. The Jamat e Islami, the Popular Front of India and the People’s Democratic Party (of Abdunnasir Ma’dani) were not invited to the meeting. The meeting was convened in the background of increasing terrorist activities and accusations in the state following the attack against the controversial professor. Those accused in the attack were PFI activists. The activists of the Solidarity Youth Movement had provided blood needed to the attacked professor.
