“Such a centre would not only be able to provide clinical services to students on campus but will also disseminate information pertaining to health and hold awareness programmes,” said Faizi O. Hashmi, the project director of the Delhi State Aids Control Society.

The ‘Youth Friendly Health Centre’ was inaugurated by Delhi Minister of Health and Family Welfare Kiran Walia Thursday on the occasion of International Youth Day.

“It is necessary to make aware our students at college and university level about the ills of HIV/AIDS to prevent them from the horror of this disease. Another such centre would be coming up in Delhi University soon,” the minister said.

“(A total of) 94 Integrated Counselling Test Centres, nine Anti-retroviral Treatment Centres and five Drop-in Centres are already operational under the aegis of Delhi AIDS Control Society in the capital,” she added.
