IM mail continues coming from Mumbai, terrorist still at large

By TCN Staff Writer,

New Delhi: As email claiming terror attack one after another continues coming from Mumbai, India’s commercial capital has emerged as the den for the banned terror outfit Indian Mujahideen or whoever working under this cover. Shamefully, our security agencies are yet to catch the IM email sender, otherwise the whole game would have ended much earlier.

It’s tragic that within hours after every IM mail sent to media offices following terror attacks in last few years, police and security agencies have been able to reach the place from where the email is sent, one or two persons are interrogated and let free and then we hardly heard a word on further investigation into the case.

Apparently, the lackadaisical attitude of the local police and intelligence agencies in nabbing the terror email sender is brining huge shame to the UPA Government and Union Home Ministry and much of malice to the Muslim community whose image is further sullied after every terror attack though none points finger at the community now particularly after the arrest of some Hindu extremists in cases of terror blasts in Malegaon, Ajmer, Samjhauta Express and Mecca Masjid.

Barely half an hour after the Varanasi blast yesterday, an email was sent to some media offices, claiming responsibility for the attack. The terror mail signed, like earlier mails, by Al-Arabi, has been traced to a residential complex in Navi Mumabi. According to DNA newspaper, a father-son duo was picked up for questioning in connection with the e-mail. The two were questioned and later released. The five-page e-mail sent by an email id [email protected] was sent using an unsecured WiFi of Airtel Broadband of the two, said the police.

Earlier this year on September 19, the second anniversary of Batla House encounter, two unidentified – and still at large – bike-borne terrorists sprayed bullets at a team of foreigners visiting Jama Masjid in Delhi, wounding some of them. The attack took place at 11:22 am. An email claiming the attack was sent to media offices at 1:30 pm. The mail sent from email id [email protected] was traced to Mumbai. The mail was sent using a Tata Indicom connection registered in the name of a woman. According to police, the name was fictitious and all the documents were found fake. None heard anything more on the subject.

Earlier also, some IM emails particularly the post-Ahmedabad and Delhi serial blasts (2008) emails were sent from Mumbai, after which the outfit’s alleged media cell in Pune was busted and a software programmer Mohammed Mansoor Peerbhoy was arrested. But as the terror email has continued coming even after Peerbhoy’s arrest, the mystery around IM has further deepened leaving behind this question: Has IM regrouped and recruited another Peerbhoy or the real culprit behind IM mail is someone else who is still at large?
