Reacting to the announcement of relief by the government Tuesday, Naidu said in a statement that the ministers for agriculture, civil supplies, finance, commerce, textiles and other related ministries should meet to discuss the serious situation in Andhra Pradesh and decide adequate relief for farmers who lost their crops in recent rains.

He said the Rs.400 crore relief from the National Calamity Contingency Fund was already due to the government.

Naidu, who toured the affected areas in Andhra Pradesh, said the central government does not seem to have realised the gravity of the situation as well as the sufferings of the affected people following unprecedented rains in the state.

He said a BJP delegation, led by party leader L.K. Advani, had met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Dec 13 to apprise him of the serious situation in Andhra Pradesh.
